The Lotus Motor Sport Elise is a special race-prepared version of the Lotus Elise, intended for racing use. Power is supplied by a 1.8L Rover K1800 inline 4-cylinder producing 137 BHP with a specially tuned exhaust mated to a close ratio 5-speed manual transmission. Many features are absent from the Motor Sport Elise in a bid to save weight and increase responsiveness. It is believed that 65 were produced. The foundry received a major facelift in 2021. The foundry now features a post design instead of a tongue post design, a metal wing cast into the body, different contours, and a front bumper and a much lower ride height.
